Jordi Atienza

Jordi was born in Barcelona, Spain, and has a lifelong love of the sea, spending hours at the beach as a child, and taking in the sights and sounds of the Mediterranean.

A true pioneer in the world of Scuba diving, Jordi Atienza has been instrumental in helping PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) develop their business in Spain and Portugal. Working for PADI as an Examiner, translator, and legal advisor for over 15 years assisting the organization to grow to be the leader in diving instruction in these countries.

During his professional career, he has taught 5,000 students from beginners to instructors during over 15,000 dives. In his career, he has been a strong advocate for PADI’s mission to promote safe and responsible scuba diving practices.

After a successful career as a professional diver, Jordi switched to filming the beautiful underwater life and its characters. His main interest is to capture the natural behavior of wild animals and to document our fragile marine ecosystems. Jordi has also gained a Master’s in Digital Marketing and Social Networks (The year 2018, University of Vic) incorporating this into his passion for the sea, its creatures, and the adventures he leads through his business Viajes GoPro.

He currently collaborates with one of the largest diving certifying agencies: SSI (Scuba School International) teaching specialty underwater video courses. With a curriculum developed and based on his extensive knowledge and experience, he uses GoPro cameras and different lenses running introductory to advanced courses including editing.

As a keen and dedicated underwater photographer, Jordi is a GoPro Advocate, highly competent in capturing high-quality images and organizing materials for photo and video shoots. He has extensive experience in specialized underwater filming with his video work being used for the documentary program “Thalassa” which was shown on TV3 and ETB in Spain and France. Jordi has also had his images published in the magazine National Geographic and has worked with other renowned broadcast and publishing companies.

He has been teaching GoPro courses since 2015 instructing participants how to achieve spectacular images with such a small camera. Currently, Jordi conducts diving tours and GoPro courses with his international travel agency Viajes GoPro to places like Egypt, Maldives, Australia, Spain, and Portugal.
