I am Gijs van Amelsvoort, and I write music for film, television, promos/trailers, and games. I am known for my versatility, reliable collaboration, work-speed, and my proficient way of translating the mood of the story and screen into music.

About Me Born in the Netherlands, my relationship with music began when I took piano lessons at the age of seven, where I immediately began to create my own stuff. Later on I discovered pop, rock, and jazz music by playing keyboard in various bands and ensembles. I also took music theory training at the Fontys Conservatory.

In 2009 I began studying Composition & Music Production at the Utrecht School of Arts. In 2013 I graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours. Here I developed my composition, arranging, and producing techniques, as well as working on collaborating with filmmakers, editors, game developers, musicians, producers, sound designers, and other artists.

All of this resulted in my being able to work for We Write Music in London (UK), Endemol (NL), Fons Merkies Amsterdam (NL), Reliable Source Music London (UK), and SoundBreeders (NL). My work has been nominated at several diverse festivals such as the SoundTrack Cologne European Talent Competition, Buma Music In Motion Young Talent Award, and the Nederlands Film Festival.
