National Card Playing Day across the USA is December 28th. In the Renaissance in Europe, decks were divided into four suits of coins, cups, swords & sticks/batons & from these today’s modern cards developed. Theories how the suits converted to hearts, spades, diamonds & clubs, such as representing the different classes of the era – clergy, aristocracy, military & peasantry. Top card games include Spades, Poker, Solitaire, Gin Rummy, Bridge, Black Jack & Texas Hold’em.
