Namoratunga Kalokol Pillar Site archaeological site Turkana Kenya East Africa Landscapes Travels Lifestyle featuring 19 basalt pillars arranged in a specific formation according to the Daily Nation. The site is located about 50 meters off the Lodwar-Kalokol road, near the western shore of Lake Turkana. Locally, the pillars are referred to as “Namoratunga,” meaning “people of the stone” in the Turkana language according to the Turkana Basin Institute.
