Common Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is native to temperate Europe though naturalized to temperate regions of North America. Often used as an ornamental in gardens, this biennial plant was the original source of digoxin, or digitalin, used as a heart medicine. However, all parts of the plants including the seeds are poisonous in sufficient quantity.
