This is a suggestion that may be overkill or just plain stupid (I’m open to all sorts of criticism), but another VideoHive author and I collaborated on a project and put the items in the review queue. Based on the last three of weeks or so, I told him it should take 4-5 days for it to be reviewed and approved and he said it would be closer to 5-6 days. So we put them in about the same time. The hope would be that my music would get approved before his video. This is not a complaint thread about AJ queue running slightly slower this week. I have tons of respect for what they do and, really, 6 or 7 days is pretty quick as far as I’m concerned. However, I didn’t take into account that’s they’ve been busy with the meetup, and that’s what happened: the queue was slightly slower for AJ this week. I’m totally cool with it. No huge deal… but his video approved while I was asleep last night and already has two sales. My song should be approved sometime in the next few hours…
The suggestion: What if there was a way, like a shared code between the 2 collaborators that would be inputted when submitting the item, that would link the 2 projects so that if one project gets approved first, it then moves to a standby queue and waits for the other project to be reviewed and approved. Then, BOTH projects get sent to the front page at exactly the same time! Could be kind of cool… What do you think?
Phil
Haven’t had the pleasure of collaborating with a VH author yet but when I will that would definately be a nice feature to have. Doesn’t seem too difficult to implement at first glance, but then again I’m no coder.

I don’t think I’m allowed. That would be seen as self-promotion and a mod would get rid of it.
From a professional, business and marketing standpoint that is a brilliant idea and I think having that sort of utility available would really put this marketplace yet another step ahead of the competition!
Thing is (disclaimer: I am NOT a programmer) I think it may be hard to do from a technical standpoint in the sense of programming it right. I’d love to be proved wrong though and see this happen!!

It’s a nice and very lofty idea, however my experience with current developer priorities tells me that it is extremely unlikely such a function would see the light of day any time soon. Don’t mean to be a party pooper, just sayin it like I see it, given what I know as a reviewer on this side.
Regarding the delay, unfortunately, the conference/hotel wifi speeds were not sufficient to proof audio effectively during our work times, so my reviewing was sidelined during those two weeks. Thankfully, there were a LOT of other things to do, plan and discuss, and the team really came through in my absence. Things will now be back on track soon. The delay could potentially have been a lot longer than it’s gotten to.
Thanks for hanging in there everyone.

Hey man, no complaints here.
I really appreciate you guys! I thought the idea was little lofty (since I said it “may be a little overkill”) and agree there are probably many things that should take priority. Thanks for responding though. Really good to hear your input. Maybe it’s something that’s on down the line quite a bit. I know everyone’s throwing their ideas at the staff of developers. I’m sure it’s a little overwhelming. I’m no developer either and have no idea what this would all entail. Looks like the meet-up was a blast. Glad you guys enjoyed it and felt like it was productive.

Hey Phil, Thanks so much for the suggestion. Always good to hear your thoughts and other authors thoughts thinking outside the box.
The very simple solution here is, wait to get your item approved before having it included in someone else’s VH preview. Most VH authors are going to want to use items that are already published and available in the library anyway. On those rare occasions VH authors want a customized track from AJ authors, have the AJ author get the file published/approved ahead of time. There’s little point investing time and effort in a feature that’s rarely going to be used. And as Adrien already said very eloquently, in the grand scheme of things there are some very high level and important features and functionality still ahead of us that take priority because it will impact everyone and be advantageous to many rather than a small minority. Hope this makes sense, but it’s great to ask these questions in the forums nonetheless, thanks for brainstorming!

I absolutely agree with you. I think we were writing our responses to Adrien’s remarks at the same time.
This is all just one more thing I’m learning as I move forward.
I posted this in the suggestions forum but that place is like a morgue, so I’ll say it again here
One thing I’d love would be to have the link to your item made available during the review process. Ideally, the pending items could show up in the hidden section. This way, we could preemptively setup our promotional links ahead of time, rather than after the fact.
I think it most likely files under the ‘in the future’ category but as we have your attention Scott, I thought I’d throw it out there again
Cheers, Gari
