For 5 minutes clip? I wouldn’t do it for any less than $1500. And that’s if I’m feeling generous

Yep agree, but in this case there is no any complex animations\tricks\effects. It looks smooth and nice, but on the other side it’s very easy to create (in case if client provide all assests, scripts, wide deadline, etc. etc.).

It comes down to if you charge hourly or per clip. So it depends on how long you spent doing this project.

You could have spent the same amount of time creating a VideoHive project that would make you twice that much in a long run.

Just saying :)

I had to make all assets, I got only pictures and logos, all in low resolution. And I had 4 days to finish it. Plus, client decided to add new things in every few hours…

A Client from HELL then :) .. I had one of those once, after that I never went easy on my clients.

If it’s on short notice you should charge extra.

There is no shortage of clients out there so you shouldn’t accept everything that is coming in…speaking myself who have just accept a project where the client negotiating the price (he wanted more than 60% discount) and at 9pm he sent me the killer message with “can it be done by tomorrow”? My email blacklist is ready to act.

Or another one, few weeks ago – 50% paid upfront, project finished, then he got 2 reviews (free), then he started adding more and more things (obviously he thought if review is included in the project that means that freelancer will spend another 10 hours on reviewing his project for free).

On the other hand there are clients who you are happy to work on long term basis. Pay what you ask, give you all resources and plenty of time to finish the project.

Anyway, back to the original topic. Here is my latest CG portfolio from Uni : http://vimeo.com/41414320

And here’s the animation showreel: http://vimeo.com/42109165

As soon as I’ll have some time to spare I’ll create my entire 2011/2012 showreel including my motion graphics works as well.

Great stuff guys! Looking forward to see more!

Felt tips: Jamiroquai clip? Officially you are my personal hero :O

Btw there will always be clients that won’t know what they want and misjudge this job (money, time, quality). It’s our job to educate them… with the soft or the hard way. Depends the case.

I’m not proud of my latest pharmacy & health works so i’ll share a promo video and a summerfun personal one… (mostly editing, cc, rotoscoping, tracking) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp6iLcn33v8 . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hoEjlvnmcc
