a file is uploaded, sells loads, makes a mint. Everyone see’s this and wants a slice of pie which is unfortunate as it does mean we get floods of templates / banner rotators that all look the same :(

Well, I would like is that everyone saw this post.

I know many people think like me and I am not the only one who thinks that there are many products here that looks the same as others.

I looked at it this way: as a favor to ask the reviewers, the members of flashden and all the staff at envato.

best way to assess where they will approve a product if a product is similar to another when this is assessed, that something was done.

this is a big market for sale, but sometimes simply because you see things very much alike, I have repeated thousands of times the word “innovate” but that is the key.

we should all be original, and we should build things that are not copies of other.

saludos ;)

I understand the viewpoint of KenSHinH. The sellers innovate too little, when users upload a innovative item and is doing well in sales, others take it as a reference, that´s why many time it´s look like the same and don´t lose their original essence.

For example: I don´t understand why all the templates have a dark style… when i look for the most sellers I realized that all are dark. This makes me think that others take it as a reference.

In conclusion, sooner or later we got bored to see the same and the market will be affected if we are not more innovative.

you mean if you want to copy some really mostly “unique” ideas and make a rip of them…

By belief is that there is little to no creativity left on FlashDen. I don’t mean to sound harsh, when there were less users, if we speak about %, there were many more creative authors.

Now, the number of creative authors has decreased, and completely newbies are uploading a lot of copy-cat files. Don’t trust my word for it, browse the latest 500 files if you want. ;)

If someone copies your file looks EXACTLY the same, but for example writes it in AS# compared to AS2 (the way you wrote it), their file will be accepted. It happened to a file exactly the same as one of my files.

By looking at the popular files, it’s obvious that copy-cats are following the creative trends set by one of the few ( five to ten authors tops ). At the moment the banner rotators stay strong, and this trend has been started by VF.

Nice subject KenSHinH , but your base principle is kind of wrong .

Many products in this world tend to look the same and this is called functional convergence in technical literature .

I will give you some examples : all the kitchen cookware , electric appliances , cars , garden tools , etc. look alike . At the essence , a spoon is a spoon , right ? You can’t make a spoon look like an axe .

These are limitations of the form given by the function . So , when creating a photo gallery and it looks like a photo gallery , it’s no problem , differences start to show when you implement some fancy transitions , effects , APIs and customization capabilities : for example all cars look alike but they are all distinct by the ” feeling ” , customer service etc.

I hope that elucidates your questions .

I don’t agree with you, and I think your example is wrong. Instead of comparing the same kind of cars (let’s say all kind of convertibles with two doors), my belief is Flash allows us to create different kind of cars (SUVs, minivans, sedans, compacts, etc). :)

It’s up to how creative you can think. There are thousands of creative websites posted online everyday. These ideas come from somewhere. ;)

A spoon doesn’t need to look like a spoon. Imagine it in a different way.

I also hate copy-cat files.

But the thing is, there are trends. If you underestimate them, you will possibly fail on your attempt to earn money.

Authors, painters, sculptures, singers… All the creative people, they are earning money when they create something that follows the trends. But when they create something totally new, %80 of the time, they fail to get understood, thus, starve…

When i look around in FD, even if i see some real talents, generally, i see people who are enthusiast about earning some money. If you push those enthusiasts to create something totally new, you will get handful of crap. Because it will be nearly impossible to sell them.
