i’m curious if this ever happened to other authors here before. I recently got this notice from envato telling me of exclusivity breach because they found a site that is not even mine but selling and pirating my file. Apparently, some guy stole my file and is selling it as if it’s theirs for profit.
I’m given two options by envato, either remove the file from the site, which i can’t because it’s not even me selling it nor it is even my site or opt out of being an exclusive author. else i will have my account closed.
I just find the whole situation pretty funny but not sure what else to do but tell them it’s not my site.

No, I’ve never had that happen.
First of all, you have to make sure Envato understands that the site is not there by your choosing and that it has been pirated. After that I imagine it will just be a matter of send a DCMA to the site’s owner.

Yet another situation reserved just for authors forum.
Good luck on sorting this out webtako!
Good luck solving this one, hope they listen to you and understand that it’s not you selling it.
Thanks guys. Waiting to hear back from envato, That site that’s selling my file illegally apparently is bundling a bunch of other files for sale as one big bundle, I can spot at least one other file I’ve seen before that’s illegally being resold as if it’s theirs.
Not sure why envato can’t tell that the site is not legit and why they’re coming after me.
can someone in envato help me with this notice i got, i emailed a couple of times already explaining what is happening and no response yet,
it’s rather important since the notice i received initially stated i have a limited amount of time to take the file down or else my account may be shut down.
like i said before, i have no clue as to who is selling my file, so have no control over taking it down.
some of our co-authors reported this. Than Envato stuff checked on it and took action. You should be fine if all you are saying is true. Do not worry!
thanks for letting me know and looking into it

this quite interesting if you consider that somebody stealing code/design and using it to sell items here requires the original author to send a dmca takedown notice before envato will consider taking any action.
i’d like to see the same level of effort when it comes to protect author earnings.
