I’ve been building themes directly for clients but I thought I’d take a stab at submitting some themes here. Here’s my 1st attempt.

I’m still working on some of the responsive css but I’d love to get some feedback

So that is now 2 comments re: “bad typography”. I know this is pretty open ended but what makes it bad? I’m using these 2 fonts http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Share-Regular and http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Aurulent-Sans

And @ Yaeko I’ve changed the fonts since you visited

Thanks for the feedback

Hi, Nice work but “bad typography” like the other freinds say, so why it’s bad for me it’s look like an old document printed with old matrix printer you know the one with a ribbon and it’s alternate the attraction of your theme (try integrate google font you have a large choise i use one here “demo.farkess.com/bibos” in my future theme in the menu).

other thing the theme look so dark i don’t know if it’s a goal but it’s noisy in the eye i can’t concentrate in the same place longer then 2 second.

Good luck :)

The demo site is very slow and crashed my Firefox (admittedly I had about 50 tabs open).

Agreed on the typography.

I think this one is still a long way from “submit ready” and you need to read up on what Envato are looking for.

“bad typography” isn’t always the font that you choose, it’s more the spaces between the line, the proportions of your text blocks.

Let me give you a simple example to help you out:

The first blog post The kitchen sink>

- Header is not spaced well, to few white space between your header and content, to few white space between the top “box line” and your header.

Let your content breath, give if the space to come out and don’t cluster it to much otherwise visitors will only see your images, but not your text, so they won’t know what you’r doing.

Also, bad spacing looks a bit non-profesional.

But your getting in the right direction, spending much time on such small details will give you a more professional look. Check out the tutorials on Nettuts, they will surely help you out, it did for me ;).
