Hi Well all I would say here is be careful. TF is a standard in themes..to be sure..but the competition is strong and not going away. Themes are everywhere and marketplaces are coming online. I for one having been here since the start have finally found authors I follow and to be frank I will buy the themes they create at almost any price. :) -It took a long time but I know who I can trust and that makes all the difference..Thats me.. a long time customer..new customers may not see it that way and might end up somewhere else..Just a caution..I would not worry if I were Envato but let me finish by saying that the best theme authors here are as good as any out there including the biggest shops.. That is really awesome when you think about it..It takes a while to learn why and who but when you do you can just fly with the products they produce.. Thanks

I think many of us buyers are now going to think twice before purchasing and just stick to authors we know. I’ve purchased maybe 50 themes here and many of them I never ended up using because they weren’t thought through, not coded very well, bad support, etc. So, now that the price is $50, I’m probably not going to risk purchasing themes from new authors. I think overall the price increase is going to hurt the marketplace, although the authors do deserve the higher prices. Don’t forget that many buyers here are freelancers working for little money and to them $15 more is a big deal.

Mot of these people who complain about this are the same people who complain that $8/month is too much for Netflix… yet they’ll go out on Fri/Sat night and blow off many times more money without thinking twice. It’s all about priorities. If you can’t afford an extra $15 then eat out once less every 2 months.

I’m guilty of this myself… i nickel and dime my way with many things that are inexpensive yet a great value. (netflix, paid version of Evernote at only $5/month, etc.) And on the other hand I spend lots of money on things that are of less value for me.

If authors and files deserves higher prices, as you pointed out, then is a problem of the price buyers has got used to, and not the real value of the themes. People will be willing to pay a fair price for a good product. At least that’s my (optimist) point of view.

Sales not going so good for anybody. Am i the only one who is seeing this? Maybe i am just paranoid, but before this you should really have made a survey for buyers. They are some nice themes out now, for some time with 0 sales. This is not good.

I agree, Envato should have made surveys before to see how much people are willing to pay. Then they should have slowly increased the prices over time. But, I also think some themes aren’t getting any sales because of how many themes that have been released lately. There’s been like 20 new themes these last 2,3 days. As a frequent buyer, it’s a bit hard to keep up.

Its easy to understand yall complain about items being too cheap then they increased the prices and ya still say it takes weeks to develop and the prices should be higher to the buyers but ya keep releasing themes left and right i saw 3 new themes from one author in 2 days.

I was buying items all them time to play with and never use now there just setting unused on my downloads list. With the price increase buyers like me are now watch what we spend. Looks like some authors got greedy now they are going to have to adjust with the drop in income.

I was going to buy a theme myself last Friday but was too tired i returned Monday to buy it and the price when from $25 to $55 which made me pass it up. You guys keep saying it like a dinner on a Friday night. Man Ive never spent that much on a restaurant outing on myself. Besides i dont go out to eat the cost are to much when you have 4 mouths to feed then a outing would be over $75. SO i hope the increases was worth it. I know some buyers will still buy but most will go else were or just watch what they spend. I for one have a another idea in mind.

You make a very valid point and something that has been brought up quite a few times lately by authors who have been told to stop whining from new authors who think it’s some kind of way of trying to block so many new items – but as I already stated it wasn’t that kind of a plea but rather one to benefit everyone because as you rightly state as a buyer it’s simply overwhelming and helps no one in the end – they need to simply raise quality standards rather than allowing all these bootstrap based html / wp themes that all look identical apart from colors and images.

It’s ruining the marketplace Envato – authors and buyers are now telling you this.

Our new theme is in building for about 5 months now, so excuse me but do not add us with the bunch because we are not like most authors. We want to be unique and as good as we can. I am just sayin that a 5$ would have been okey and first of all, do a campain with buyers to see what they think about this. I hope that the future is not as bad as i think it to be. A lot of themes, with high prices are some of them lack any premium theme features or quality. What can i say, i hope we did not spend this much work for a grim future.
