Hi guys, need some advice.
I’m currently working on Mac Pro but since i’m likely to be on the road allot in the future i might need to switch to laptop. My first and only choice is MacBook Pro.
I would like to hear what people who work on MacBook Pro’s say. Will it do the job for After Effects, Premiere/Final Cut Pro X and Cinema 4D?
Thanks:)
I switched over to a Mac Book Pro a few years ago and I love it. After Effects, Final Cut, Premiere, Maya and Cinema 4D all no problem. Rendering 1080 can take a while but it’s still faster then my older Mac Pro.

You’re definitely going to take a hit on rendering time. But load that baby up with some nice ram, and use your MBP to do the work while on the go, and then switch back to your desktop to handle the rendering. Just transfer the whole project folder back and forth with airtransfer.
It really depends how intensive your graphics are. I have a macbook pro 17inch and it will render 5 times slower than an iMac 27inch. On small projects it’s not a big deal, but you can imagine the difference between a one hour render and a five hour render – when the clock is ticking! (imagine a 24 hours render on the road…) But, I have never run into a project that the macbook pro could not handle, yet. And if you keep your projects simple with proxies and all you should be fine.
Still, I love my macbook pro and refuse to get rid of it – after all, I can’t take the iMac with me on the train!
