I came across this article today and thought I’d share it with the community as it has very valid points about FREE WordPress Themes.

All the more reason to buy and support Themeforest.

Yup. Great article! Thanks for sharing
? The article dont even say not to get themes from free sites, just to be careful of the theme you get from un trusted sites…. not even the author said not to download at all from free sites…
Did you really mis interpret it that much? or you just trying to make everyone believe they have to spend $30 for a theme?

Since83_Com saidI agree, it sounds a little misleading. There are still many good free theme that do not include such spammy links/content.

I agree with the above.
The article presents many useful points, but I don’t see “don’t use free themes” being one of those. The author wrote simply that free WP themes can have security risks and how to check for those, or avoid the risks altogether by using trustworthy sites. A more positive interpretation would be: “How to get free WP themes safely.”
Imagine if someone presents an article that warns about the dangers of buying stuff online, with the intro “Why you shouldn’t buy anything online”, instead of the more accurate “How to shop online more safely”.
With that said, thanks for bringing up that useful article here.

I apologize if my subject made it seem all or nothing. I thought it was a great article outlining what to look out for. Even thought it talks about free templates these types of issues can also be raised in paid templates as well.
