Bottom line Mac user are around 7-9% in use globalize when it comes to desktop/laptop machineEarth to Hollywood: Macs are EXPENSIVE and not every person on the planet has one! Just show me a Dell every now and then and I’ll be happy
I use dell or hp 15.6-17 i change to a new laptop every 14 month or so they work 24/7 , for top specification quad-core i7,12 GB and the rest of the crap usually cost me around $1700-$2200 .
Interesting that no one mention Mac price here …..
For MacBook Pro 17 the best (well you can go up more) it’s a fix price here like i say before pure dictator`s
4GB 1333 GHz.
AMD Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 .
will cost you here around $3700 add warranty 3 years $410 more ,let say i want to upgrade to 8 GB add $243 ,not even talking about extra accessory or cover .
Telling you man i am doing ok in my life have some nice motorcycle’s cool house, dog that eat $60 a week and more expanse no problamo ,but i am really not that idiot(it’s just me not referring to anyone else ) buying the same parts from China by triple the price just in the name so call Apple is cool.
As i say many times you want to be cool go do some sky diving or buy a Harley Davidson it’s also the freedom of the American way

I love these Mac vs PC threads! To answer the original question – I’ve owned PC’s since 1995, last year I purchased a second-hand MacBook from a friend as I needed a new one after my PC Notebook gave up on life and wanted something to test my work within a Mac environment alongside my desktop PC.
I had chance to use the MacBook for two and half weeks (mainly support) whilst doing a road trip of California and by the end of the trip I became a complete lover of OSX .
So much so a few months later I walked into Apple and sat down with them to discuss my options. I was originally going to purchase just a 17” MacBook Pro to replace the PC and MacBook (plus a couple of Apple TV’s) but I ended up walking out with a 17” MacBook Pro, a 27” iMac and a time capsule.
Both on Apple Business Finance, which is effectively leasing the equipment but it means that it’s all fully claimable against my tax.
The first thing that attracted me to use Mac’s is the undeniable quality difference between that and say the hardware you get from Dell.
The keyboard, mouse etc feels so much nicer to work on – I can type much faster on an Apple keyboard, the multi touch mouse is fantastic (once you know what does what
) , power consumption is reduced + all using one single power cable.
Then there are the Apps – if I need a particular task doing (e.g. css sprite generator) I just click on the App store and every time I’ve found an App to help. Yes you can download programs for Windows but it normally means trawling through countless sites in google and then working out whether they are spyware ridden or not.
Lastly the user interface and general workflow – The usability is so much smoother and faster than any Windows I’ve used. I can setup numerous virtual desktops ( I think there is a program for Windows now ) have each application within a desktop and skip between them fast and smooth.
Plus everything integrates with each other – I can work on my iMac, then pick up the MacBook Pro and carry on where I left off (ideally outside in the sun because the MacBook Pro has antiglare
I personally feel my productivity has increased substantially since switching and even if it that worked out to 1% that’s enough for me to warrant paying a little extra.).
Thanks for the great post! I’ve been debating the last few weeks if I want to make the big jump to Mac. Your post has by far been the most helpful!
Holy war: Mac vs PC
Tube vs transistor
Fender vs Gibson
Mercedes vs BMW
Come on, guys, let us stop to play this games of marketing!!!
I started my music “life” with Dell 1525 and created quality music without any troubles (wich are “inevitable” for PC) and it was enough for the most my purposes (record, arranging, mixing, etc.)
In my experience I’ve realize that Mac come with great and compatible components, and for that they are very reliable, the colors are precise almost to perfection, the system is stable and the design is beautiful… But Mac Controls and decides how much of the Mac u can use. In every test with the same components a Mac will always be slower than a pc..
In my 15 years of profession I’ve always use both and bad to say, pc was and is always faster, less reliable but faster…
If u work with graphic design for web (both are great) Printing graphic (pc are faster but Mac are mo precise with colors) Music (Mac for life) Post production and special effects (pc is much faster) Editing movies (final cut forever) Wanna be cool (Mac forever)
It’s your choice buddy;)

You’re right, ford’s usage of powdered metallurgy for most of it’s parts does make its parts tend to have stronger tensile strengths than the average BMW ’s parts, and they do tend to keep just as strict or even more strict machining tolerances which historically has made them more reliable. And that may be why more U.S. millionaires drive ford than any other brand of vehicle. And I agree that ford’s look better! But I think you’re wrong about price, on average fords are actually cheaper I think.
Yes yes…I was being sarcastic, I know you were meaning to say that the BMW was the better one. I’m just pointing out that sometimes we let our preconceptions influence us a bit too much without ever checking up on them to see if they’re real. Whether you choose mac or PC, do it by researching your actual needs and how each one will fit them, don’t just think of the preconceptions, cuz sometimes they’re more related to the ad campaigns than the actual products

I’ll leave the subjective parts out of this response but I hope you realize General Motors vehicles are some of the worst on the market. Brand new ones are okay, I’m sure, as is anything new, but give her a couple of years and you’ll be shelling out money on repairs every other day. Also, I don’t know any millionaires that drive Fords…

Best reply.
Also one example of bad consistency is Windows is when you try to save a file ( from browser / messenger ) . There are about 3 different interfaces that may appear. Each almost completely different then the other. So yeah…
I must say Windows machines are reliable and you can do everything you’d do with Mac. But Mac is just Mercedes while Windows is a cheap, old ( but durable ) car.

Not to put any gas on the fire, but based on a simple logical analyses, mac is in conclusion nothing but a gimmick, more expensive way of simplifying what you can already do anyway on a “cheap” pc?
Wow, pretty motivating stuff to roll extra cash out, especially if you’re not new to computers in general, I must admit.

Oh, and regarding the consistency issue… I totally feel that, just that if someone actually reads most of the “options” a simple, stupid PC spits at the user, consistency becomes nothing more than a learning curve gone flat. I know it’s one of THE most important things, or was, for apple, and I can’t say I don’t find that worthy of the kindest reviews, but really? (hence the gimmick comment… as the only actual difference is a bit of shiny here, a bit of “elegant” there, and here you go sir, for basically the same toad, but with “consistent” parts, and “consistent” operation capabilities, you get a super offer with 20-40% more expensive )
hmmm…. I really think I am getting all this wrong

General Motors is NOT Ford. Anyone who knows anything about german cars will tell you that they are just as unreliable as american cars, except when something goes wrong it costs a LOT more to fix.
@contrastblack: I knew this thread would take that turn, PC fanboys can’t stay down. Maybe it’s just envy?
