No one is allowed or should promote any other external websites, databases, ftp sources for freebies on forums. And you obviously know why. 
I flaged it, sorry. But I wouldn’t like if someone would go to VH forums and stars talking about sources to free footage or free AE templates. It just doesn’t work that way, does it?

I don’t think it matters whether it’s owned by the poster or not. Free links kinda defeat the purpose of a marketplace.
Oh well, at least that’s the reason I can think of for all the times I’ve seen freebies banned on the forums

Hm, I think we have serious problems with the items quality if we consider free websites defeating the purpose of the marketplaces.

I think so too, yes. Some freebies are so high quality that I believe they actually can compete with some of the items. Oh well…

The prices on GR are so reasonable and the quality so high, why not just support a fellow author and buy? Even a basic pizza would cost more.
