Hey all just a quick question more towards customers but authors could also give me some feedback as I am going to make a few more tunes for AD.
What kind of songs or soundtracks are most wanted on AD.
Umm. that is pretty much it.
Cheers
Lester
I can’t speak from the perspective of customers so take my two cents for what it’s worth.
From my perspective as a seller, I’ve had a lot of luck with positive and simple music, with a strong but unobtrusive melody (no ripping solos or anything). From what I’ve seen from buyers who have let me see their finished project they’re using my songs to loop in the background, adding ambiance but not getting in the way.
Not that you can’t be creative with stock music, but I think it’s just a general appreciation that it will be used as a part of a bigger entity, so I try to keep it to something that can be used for a broad range of things rather than get too out there.
Anyway, that’s what’s worked for me so far. But that philosophy also fits in with the style of music that I like and write, which is largely based on folksy style acoustic instruments. I think other authors might have a different perspective on it.
I will be curious to hear how buyers answer this question.

Good question mafloral!
I agree with jhunger.
Thanks guys
It would be awesome to hear what buyers/customers would like to see or hear.
I am very versatile when it comes to music, but my musical background is classical and progressive rock.
I was thinking about doing more of a couple hiphop or chill tunes for the next songs but it would be awesome if some of the buyer would put their thoughts into this post so i have a better idea on what they are really looking for.
Cheers, and thanks again.

Sorry for not adding any real helpful information. Just wanted to comment on the post. I too would like to hear the buyers weigh in on this. I’m a new member so I don’t have a lot of experience with the stock music scene, but from what little research (listen and seeing what tracks have high sales) I’ve done seem to indicate a higher demand for the corporate sounds. As was pointed out earlier, simple with a strong melody. From there it seems just like a taste preference over more ambient vs. more of a driving beat. Good news is that there are plenty of people with different preferences so just don’t give up and always bloom where you are planted. If you are strong in classical and prog. rock then be the best you can in that while practicing other areas. Best of luck!
Didn’t you have Prog tunes in your portfolio? As a matter of fact, I liked them so much I mentioned you in my first interview on the old blog. Put ‘em on iTunes and I’ll buy ‘em.
I have no useful input on what you should play though.
Rock on Les!
