Weekly Features

I have a question about Weekly Features section of Videohive homepage. I thought that its purpose is to promote four items each week, but now I realized that each new week only one new item is added to that list, so basically, each item in Weekly Features stays there for four weeks. Am I correct? Wouldn’t be better if all four items change each week, because this way, they are basically Monthly Features There’s a lot of great items on our lovely marketplace that deserve a little promotions. I would like to hear opinions from you, fellow authors…

That’s true. What acuredreamgift says is also true – an item actually stays visible for 4 weeks at normal pace.

Yes, I know that, but, at any moment, four items are shown there, and next to them is caption “Weekly Features”. So, for example – buyer opens Videohive homepage and see an item in Weekly Features. After three or four weeks, he open homepage again, and that same item is still in Weekly Features. Wouldn’t that buyer think that there’s some kind of bug or error. Better way would be that every week four new items are shown, and above them, week number. So when buyer click on that arrow, he would see four items from previous week, and so on. That’’s just more logical thing.

Imagine that you’re there – would you prefer to stay there for only one week? Or is it 4?

I had posted the exact same thing a little over a year ago and was told to put a suggestion in on envato support which I did… but obviously nothing has been done so they probably like it the way it is.

envato is a business so the featured items are the ones they believe will sell the most.so more exposure means more sales and profit for them while in tthe meantime they have files to show the following weeks, good strategy indeed

They are called weekly features because we set a new featured file each week. Once the week is over, the item shifts over and a new one replaces it’s position. Technically the featured files are visible for a month. BUT since it changes each week we call it the weekly features. The featured author is also a weekly thing, but only shows for 1 week.

Same thing with approvals. People want to shorten time for item to be aprooved then same people want the item to stay longer on front page. You can’t have both. Same with this, i persume that acuredreamgift had not weekly feature and with 4 features each week he would get more chance to be there. But if his file was there he would like it to be visible longer.

Always look at both sides of coin and then make statement. And put yourself in both positions first – dude who has not been in weekly feature, and dude who has been in weekly feature.

Why is a weekly feature not choosen from the specific previous week?
