Wacom Bamboo, Shall I Get One ?

Before going to a far-away store to purchase it… I would like to ask you creative people/users if it is worth buying..

I would be using it mostly for painting textures in photoshop for my upcoming 3d designs, and digital sculpting.

It is quite cheap, and is probably best i can get for a 77$ price tag.

Some people advised me to get genius and other brands… But i really like wacom’s pens. They have no batteries, and their build seems sturdy..

Any advice ? Maybe it has flaws or something ?

Well, the price seems great, I paid a lot more! Personally I can’t fault it, it’s a joy to use.

search the web for the model you want to buy, use “problem”, “broken” and the like. Usually will come up something, then you can check what people say. Just don’t believe only one person, better if an eventual problem will be stated in different places of the net. I use this method each time I need to buy some electronic stuff, there’s no perfect gadget, and is better if you know what problem you can have in the future and you can eventually detect it first and do something before is to late.

anyway wacom are a good brand(or was? )

I have a Wacom Bamboo that I got for about the same price you said… But it’s not very good, IMO . Not very accurate… I actually didn’t like it at all. So it’s been sitting in its box for more than 1 year… (wanna buy? )

So, after my experience with it, if it’s the one below, I don’t really recommend it…

I am not a fan of low and mid-class tablets. If you can’t go with a professional one it is better without it.

I am using this one: A4+ Trust Wireless Wireless Scroll Tablet TB-4200 and I can not say I am happy with it.

Anyway… I wouldn’t recommend Bamboo (or Trust).

If you want to get a graphics tablet, I certainly recommend you get a Wacom device. They are known for their great products and most (read: 99.9%) professionals use their tablets. If you want to go for great value- low price I would really recommend you get the Intuos 4 medium. I use the tablet and it’s just 100% great, I never had any problems with it whatsoever, have been using it extensively for half a year now, and it still looks like new. I chose M because S is very small for the price, and L is just too Large.

If you really really need a tablet, go for the Cintiq series – they are the best tablets around, but will cast more than your computer

the bamboo is really only for people that always wanted to try a tablet, don’t want to waste money and just want to play around with their tablet, for professional use, it’s a no-go.

I have a Wacom Bamboo, the build quality is good, but if you need precision i also suggest you get the Intuos 4, the Bamboo isn’t that great.

Said this a while back. Got both the bamboo pen&touch, and an intuos3 that’s about 4 times larger. Go for intuos if you plan on doing more than just basic sculpting and document signing with it. The price-difference will be worth it long term.
