I have one kind of experimental project on hold that has so far taken me 2 weeks. It is driven by around 1000 lines of expression and is a bit of a monster.
wooaah if u ever decide to upload that one i would at least ask 100$ or something
eheh
And yes, grunge-x was the one, i think the longest to make was either back in space or float, they took me at least 10 hours …. not that i cant make them quicker i just wanted things to be a certain way.. and i tend to overdo in that section i guess.
Nice thread indeed.
@plamecvetanov you are just a beast
I work on and off on VH projects, so I can’t really tell,
right now I have 3 more half done, but stuck with a client’s job so it’ll have to wait a few days.
I usually will just start something the minute I have an idea and sometimes I lose time in playing too much with settings
.
if the total amount of hours is to be calculated, I’d say around 15-20 hours
I don’t think that I’m a good example for this, but in my case it’s not only AE, so even the most simple 2D animated projects starts from 6 hours and up, for example:
took me about 4 days to finish, I think it was the hardest from the current stuff Items I uploaded, but my workflow is very different I guess because of the frame by frame animation.
Sorry about my bad English.
1 month each for me.
But about 15-20 hours work each. Too busy / lazy.
If I’m lucky and know what I want, I can pump one out in about 8 hours or a whole day. But that’s rare. Need alot of coffee in the morning to get me working like that.

Very interesting topic. It’s a little funny to see how everyone is working so fast. It took me about 15 days (not full hours) for my latest project “creative minds”. I am almost never fully satisfied with my project, so lot of my time goes on trying this and that. I’m not working fast. Another thing I also produce the audio track for animation, and it can be difficult sometimes, because it’s produced after the animation is done.
There is no way for me to do the whole project with everything in it, in a day.

Nice to see an old thread resurrected.
That project with 1000 lines of code got sort of stuck. It worked but had a render time that most buyers probably wouldn’t put up with. So I simplified it heavily and it turned into Meridian.
And true to my prediction, it went down like a lead balloon in terms of sales. Although it got some wonderful feedback from other authors!

Interesting thread felt. Although I have already started this thread exactly…
However, my fastest work was 2 days I think and the slowest more than a week. That is because I working with a lot of breaks…
If I could work without stopping so many times I guess all of my projects could be done in a day or two.
Regards, Daniel.
Note: Woops, I didn’t see it is one year old. Sorry.
Ok. It takes me from 2 to 5 days to complete a project. Most of the nights I sleep over my computer! I have a fulltime day job, I do a lot of freelunching and in the meantime usually nights, as a “Dracula” I work for videohive projects! Doing sfx track and help file gets most of my time….(I hate it!) Anyway, videohive projects are all the time in my mind- even when I work on other projects at the time! I wish I had more free time…. I love working on projects of my own!

mine have taken infinity amount of hours as i have not posted one yet. Done three so far but dropped them instead of putting them up. I keep seeing way better quality, same idea but done better, and mine really pale in comparison. People like felt give me a very high bar to reach. But it keeps pushing me to get better so i don’t mind it at all.
Just awaiting the time i get one that is worthy of being uploaded and shown on the site with all the rest of the amazing talent i see here. I catch myself browsing the new stuff each day to get new ideas and just to see the cool stuff you guys put up.

@mvav – you have to start at one point. You’re going to exhaust yourself if you try to be perfect. That’s the mistake I learned from myself.
