... hmmm ….
The homepage!
It’s quite nice if you ask me, unique, but
1. The font though, really needs improvement.
2. A right padding, a light font, a bigger top bottom padding for the caption text
3. Maybe a information text? At the moment it’s unique… but empty
The contact page
1. The font is wrong. 2. The gray is to… default? Dark? Painful for the eyes. 3. The visual hierarchy is out. Email, subject, name are smaller than message. use max-width property for fields, give them a padding, border, shadow, something! 4. The text “Please contact me” looks like the elephant in the living room no one talks about, if you do want to have it there, use a very very very light color. And populate all the fields, not just subject. 5. Social icons look bad. Just bad. There are tons of them out there. Plus, consider user experience. Users are interested in phone numbers, maps, addresses first rather than social networks. Usually 3 networks suffice, but include the ability to add more! 6. The bottom shadow is unrealistic. A fast example could be this 7. The submit button has no hover, or active state. Looks like a plain graphic. White on yellow, not a good color choice especially on high brightness displays.
Portfolio
1. When you hover over the images, you get the feeling ” there is something wrong ”. The effect looks like a animation bug. Or actually, a 97 type site effect. 2. The font again, needs improvement. A lot of improvement. Readability is out. Also, consider the padding again, plus use a background with RGBA and set the opacity to something like 90% so you can see some of the image. 3. Try to use different pictures. Visually speaking the same image really hurts the eyes. 4. The shadow again… not realistic.
The blog…
1. Looks more like a Flash news ticker. Bad idea! 2. Doesn’t have a main image. 3. Doesn’t have comments. 4. Needs typography improvements. 5. Needs line height improvements. 6. Yellow on white again, can hardly read what it says. 7. The blog inside post is really painfully dark gray. Hurts the eyes like crazy. Going from a light contrast to a dark one is a visual nightmare. 8. That shadow again. 9. Next / Prev buttons and that small ball. What if your buyer has 340 posts? What then? Think user experience!
And that’s about it! Absolutely no offence intended! Just my constructive criticism. As the review message goes… good start … needs a lot of polish and polish!
Consider using the typography calculator and Google Fonts! You will be amazed by the outcome. Also, when choosing a font from Google Fonts. Keep in mind that the more styles it has, the better it is for your buyer.
All the best, Paul
P.S. Never give up! Polish, polish, polish, try again! It’s always hard to start something!
