Hello all,
I have yet to submit any items. I am looking to submit an item which uses the Envato API to verify purchases before giving full access to the plugin. I contacted Envato Support concerning the issue and this was the reply, “The item needs to be functional right out of the box, unfortunately, I do not believe the item will be accepted if it must be verified and then enabled.”
If this is the case, what is the point of being able to verify purchases through the API if you can’t implement it on new submissions?
Is there something that I am missing here?
I think you can, at least @dtbacker has one that verify the purchase first.

A lot of authors give out additional features after a buyer verifies their purchase. Such as automated product updates, extra freebies within the item or even priority technical support. Maybe this is something you can offer within your item as well?
Best of luck with your item submissions and look forward to seeing them on the marketplace.
My idea was to offer a free version in the WP repository and the marketplace license will unlock the pro version. If this is the case, the reviewer can’t review the whole of the functionality. Which either means the plugin is rejected or the given price will be lower than it should be because of the limited functionality.
I am just trying to figure out how to do this right.

Best to upload the fully unlocked version to the marketplace so the review can see all functionality. In the reviewer message box include a link to the “trimmed down” version so the reviewer can see the differences. It’s very hard to give a yes/no answer when it comes to offering a separate trimmed down version, the item reviewer will have the final say once they have all the information and can see the differences in features.
Best of luck with the uploads!

1. Do the verification on your server – create a demo purchase key that you communicate to the reviewer
OR
2. Upload first version without verification, then update
Also, yes, link to the lite version
