Smokescreen is a Flash player written in JavaScript, is an incredible piece of work. It runs entirely in the browser, reads in SWF binaries, unzips them (in native JS), extracts images and embedded audio and turns them in to base64-encoded data:uris, then stitches the vector graphics back together as animated SVG .
And is open source
maybe is not the best solution, is still in its early days but Activeden’ers your opinion about it will be appreciate it

Very interesting, I’ll be watching this, I’d love to see how this will develop!
Thanks for sharing Ivor!
Why as a flasher I will use it ?.
Certainly I can do all this better and more efficient in code smooth atc`
I am always amazed when see JavaScript as alternative to flash, will take few years before Html 5 will kick in, also I can work with base64-encoded data or SVG in flash no problem, I don’t need more tools when i can already do all this with flash and at this time i don’t care much about developing for Iphon this days when i now have the Android, I don’t know any technology that can overcome flash performance for the web.
Steve Jobs say he has a better solution then flash, but i think that statement was say under the influence of narcotics.
Also just let you know the coming Firefox 4 will support all Html 5

You don’t code for iPhone / iPad but others do
for example, you as flasher can design Ads and you can display your flash ads in iPad’s/iPhone’s with Smokescreen. There’s a bunch of benefits.
Well Apple screw as 1 time after they strict us form CS5 on the iPhone new ver`. So I learn 1 thing, not to waste my time on a company that strict you from open source developing, who knows on what narcotics stage level Steve Jobs will be ,when some will develop a plug in for the iPad’s/iPhone’s that Apple wont like do to there license thing, you want to code with C for iPad’ with there kit tools fine, but i will fly with my flash to a better fun easy world when girls, developing and rock n` roll are freeWhy as a flasher I will use it ?.You don’t code for iPhone / iPad but others dofor example, you as flasher can design Ads and you can display your flash ads in iPad’s/iPhone’s with Smokescreen. Looks that it can go fine just with timeline based files. Personally, seems to be more banner-oriented than any other thing. Looks interesting, anyway. Let’s wait for more demos and news about it.

sounds interesting Ivor..thanks for the share. Im always up for new alternatives….
Since it reads swf files, I’m guessing it doesn’t do flv files from a flash server?
