why do themes that do not have options and all the websites created look the same sell a lot. please enlighten me. and the new trend for buyers is simplicity with options? i am clueless. i do not want to judge someone just want some answers/help.

look at thesis, i have bought the product, but have never actually used it on a live site, i cant stand the thing.

look how many copies they have sold.

What marketing?

simple example, IMO author with 5000+ (twitter followers and/or TF followers and/or maybe facebook pages with lots of subscribers) will more easier to get more sells.

and also if your name is famous on the internet, people will curious with your products, LOL
