"save as" or "save for web"

I need a few suggestions. Since 5 of my designs were rejected here, I want to ask you is it possible that the reason was that I didn’t save previews and main files in “save for web” mode (if main files are supposed to be backgrounds for web sites) ?

I mean… they probably know that I’ve sent 5 files so far and if that is the reason they won’t accept my files, wouldn’t it be fair to say then: “hey, save those file for web and preview file in max size of 700 kb.”???

Is that so hard? I’m not sending my design because of a joke. I care for it, I like to do it, I want to make some money from it and I want some feedback that is not copy/paste of “minimal technical requierement” thing.

We have here many rules for same thing on many different pages that are not even connected. It’s hard to find all those. If they can write that preview file should be 590 px wide in author dashboard when I send files, was it so hard also to write “saved for web in max size of 700 kb” along with it?

Ok, I take into consideration that they simply don’t like my design and that they think it’s awful, but if “save as” or “save for web” for JPEG files is the reason for rejection, then it would be fair to mention that while rejecting files.

I send them question along with my new upload, but I don’t know will they read it or will they answer to me.

Some of us here need help or some of us simply didn’t find all rules on this site and even if it’s our mistake or our ignorance, it would be really of big help for reviewers to give us some guidelines about technical thing when they’re rejecting our files.

Also, if anybody knows… can you give me now all rules for “save as”/save for web” stuff? Does main file (that file in ZIP ) should also be “saved for web” if it is meant to to be for web? And what about dpi? Is 72 dpi enough good for graphic river and for web site? I think it should be.

Should I sent my previous files that were rejected again, but with previews in “save for web” mode or will that be perfect excuse for them to ban me?

Some tips, please. I don’t like to feel like a goose in the fog, especialy having in mind that I could lose my head.

The 400kb is only for optimizing the Preview Image of the file. As 400kb loads faster than a Preview Image of 700kb and up-also note that it also says this in the Wiki “we recommend previews no larger”. It’s a recommendation for optimizing the Preview Image itself.

Besides, we never give a rejection based on the Preview Image unless, it don’t display the product properly or in a good manner or, if the Preview Image is bigger than 7000px in height and of course – if the Preview Image is poorly designed and/or not following our guidelines in terms of width (590px).

It’s also in the Wiki, under upload instructions, that the Preview Image should be JPG only as PNG , GIF, etc.. won’t display properly.

I still think that reviewers could be more specific when rejecting design, so we could know what is actualy wrong and why our design isn’t good enough. If there is some technical problem in some design (rough edges, unsuitable exported files, etc) that also should be mentioned.

But considering all that, I guess that in the end “Unfortunately your submission doesn’t meet our current minimum technical quality requirements…” simply means that you don’t like our (or mine) designs.

But I needed to be sure, because it would be kinda stupid that my design is rejected only because I wasn’t aware of some technical propositions. It’s easier for me to deal with that that reviewers consider my design bad or poor or unattractive etc. because I also have my opinion about that, but at least I know what is a problem then and I know how to continue after that or how to not continue.
