Need to keyout a character on a black background but it has black on it as well?
It is a video of the characters from happy feet 2 dancing but they are on a black background but the problem is they have black heads well not completely but pretty close is the any way for this to be done?
I am using after effects CS5
I’m getting best results with Keylight. If that doesn’t work, i’m afraid the only solution is rotoscopy.

Try to play with luma filters (correction +10 – 15% on black) or rotoscope.

Combination of color key, luma key, dilate/erode / choker work…. and the rest if anything’s left over with by-hand rotoscope work…. splines or brushes.
If you’ve no idea what I’m on about, look-up the principle of hold-out mattes and garbage mattes. If you can get 90% of the edge, then you shouldn’t have too much work on your hands.
