Making my first HTML CSS Template - Your Opinions.. :)

Hey guys,

I’m learning HTML & CSS at the moment and have decent photoshop skills.. I want to sharpen all 3 things to a good extend.

After I’m good at HTML , CSS and have some good design skills in PS then I can pretty much work on making some HTML -CSS templates right?

Am I missing something? It seems pretty doable to me… Or is this something that’s really gonna take time and is not easy at all?

It’s not easy and it takes lots of time – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.

Having an item for sale on themeforest.net and actually seeing it sell is very satisfying. But be prepared, not only do you need design, HTML and CSS skills… You also need to be business savy, be able to communicate well with people that need support. Be able to write full documentation on your items. The most crucial part though is how you market your item with your live preview / social media / blog etc. You need to become a business man / woman

It’s a full time job once you’re up and running. I’m by no means a good example of up and running, I have only just started out and I’m still working full time at a local marketing company….. But it’s incredibly addictive. So give it a shot.

I thought that they would just sell of themselves while being here on themeforest…

But once you got your HTML , CSS and PS skills to a good level and are creative it will be possible to get one templates approved right?

yeah definitively.. a lot of people on here would kill me if they knew my first item was approved first go lol. Even if you can’t get approved though, they usually give you a reason for rejecting your item and then you can improve upon on it.

I would say design and creativity comes before the HTML and CSS factor. HTML and CSS you can learn, being creative is something you’re usually born with.

They do sell for themselves for the most part, but the difference between a top seller and a non seller is all about how you present your item. Mainly the live theme. You really have to look at your design and live preview as if your a prospective buyer. You also have to find a way to be different with your approach to get people to buy your item. If you’re making a typical business template like everyone else, you aren’t going to make much money.
