eBay is acquiring Magento.
This is going to bring a lot more attention to the existing Magento platform, and X.Commerce (which I believe is going to be the next big release, a Magento+eBay open source platform? anyone know?).

But I’m not so happy. Don’t want to be pessimistic but somehow I have a feeling things are going to take a strange turn for the Magento platform. For starters they are changing the name

Im not surre if this is a big win for magento. Most time a big company acquire a smaller company the aquision fails. Hopefully eBay does better with magento then they did with Skype.
