Do we have to join the other sites as totally new members/profiles/portfolios if we want to link items? For instance i have some GR textures that could go on 3DOcean? Or do you think people look in both marketplaces anyway if they are searching textures? Thanks…

Hi joiaco,

if you want to upload items to the other marketplaces, you’ll need to retake the Author Quiz on your chosen marketplace.

You can do this under your current account, there is no need to create a new one.

As far as I am aware, you can’t upload a duplicate item to another marketplace, but if it is converted to another filetype (i.e a 3D material) you should be ok.

As a matter of fact, uploading a similar or the same item to another marketplace is called double dipping, quite popular as well. Lots of textures that’s available on GR are also on sale on 3DOcean’s texture category.

Quite a few buttons are also coded from GR and uploaded to CC, so, well, it’s actually allowed to upload the same or a very similar item to another marketplace within the Envato Realm.

More information as reference – http://notes.envato.com/general/make-more-money-by-double-dippin/ :)

@PatrickL, sorry maybe I didn’t explain myself too well there, by

you can’t upload a duplicate item

I meant not upload it as exactly the same. Obviously TF authors sell their PSD , HTML & Wordpress files separate, but not selling PSD here and over on TF.

Apologies if that was misconstrued.

No need to apologize, I guess I didn’t understand what you ment.

But to make it clearer, one can upload a texture to GraphicRiver and then upload it to 3DO without any changes made.

I know about double-dipping from before, but now I got a bit confused after reading your post. So let me ask, to clarify things: is it okay to submit (for example) the same image file to both GraphicRiver (as texture/background) and PhotoDune? Not talking about similar files, but the same.

EDIT : okay, you answered while I was typing my question :D

The search results are marketplace specific, so the result will show only one item belonging to same marketplace. However there is a possibility to achieve what you intended. Just upload both the files in the 2 marketplaces on relevant categories. In both the file description, you can advertise the other marketplace item and use efficient keywords. The search result can sense the item description.

As always, very comprehensive answers, thanks. Taking the Author Quiz again is the scary part – like redoing a driving test :)

You won’t be charged anything (no ~200 bucks) just for taking the test, though :sarcasm:

It depends on hourly rate of the candidate. If it takes 2+ hours to pass… :P
