Although I’m sure you haven’t noticed I was “gone”, I surely was – I’ve being having a writer’s block for months now! And I’ve finally got out of it – suddenly, the same way as it came, out of nowhere… So I’ve uploaded some new songs to AudioJungle and I’m happy now :)

Have you ever experienced a writer’s block yourself? Is there something to do about it? Maybe mine wasn’t gone by itself, maybe I did something but I don’t know what that was…

My greatest frustration isn’t necessarily writers block, but not being able to sometimes get a track to sound in real life how it does in my mind :) – writer’s block in a sense I guess.

I have this simple little process that helps me keep moving forward – I NEVER delete anything I’ve started to write. I have a projects folder on my computer called WIP where I start all my new projects. Sometimes I only it a few notes and one instrument into a song…sometimes I get a half way through a whole project, and the every now and then one finishes through to completion.

My mood can greatly affect my writing, and I may not be not be “feeling” something I wrote previously, so I put it on the shelf, so to speak. Many times weeks and even months later I come back to a project, can pick it up again but with fresh ideas. I am at the point now where I even many times don’t even remember writing some of the material because there is so much in there :)

Finally, if I truly have writers block, that usually means I need to get inspired because I am trying too hard to write from my head, rather then my heart…music that comes from the heart is natural and easy in a sense, but when it’s only from the head it becomes forced, difficult and often shows up in the song itself. Hope that makes sense to you!

Yeah, it does make sense… I also keep all my started projects in, never delete anything. I’ve finished quite a few of them after a long period of time, but many are still waiting for their turn… Yet, this “writer’s block” of mine was maybe that I got “tired” of making music, so I kinda devoted mainly to listening to it, not even feeling like digging through the archives.

Gosh, I’ve never had writer’s block thankfully, but my biggest challenge is finding and making the time to finish all my “work in progress” compositions! There’s just not enough hours in the day! :-o

Ah, ye lucky guy! :) But I totally understand you – I also need at least a few more hours per day :D

I don’t really get musician’s writers block, but I do often get distracted by other artsy stuff. Instead of writing music I start making websites for fun or designing logos for make-believe companies that I envision creating in the future. It’s all super fun for me, so I don’t feel guilty for not writing music. I actually have two full length metal albums completely written and tabbed out for all instruments that need to be recorded :O.

When I get a block (which I do sometimes) I force myself to get away from the computer and go take a walk and examine creation. Even if you happen to live in a concrete palace (aka the city) you can still look up to the sky. I always seem to find inspiration after that.

And most certainly do not delete any ideas. I always come back to stuff later and it is rare that it isn’t useful in some way.

I’m having a practice spree myself because I just can’t seem to capture anything. Always have a guitar and am away from my studio. So I have a case of recording block. :(

Interesting topic.

Actually, I work even during my writer’s block.. Experience and knowledge (technique) helps in those frustrating times. But in order to improve my creative mood I do what I like that is not related to music: reading, movies, sports, GF :)

Same here, I do get writer’s block, but the biggest problem is finding time to finish “work in progress”!
