Hi everybody! Hope you’re fine!
I was wondering, do you always start with a PSD for your HTML /WP/... Templates? Or do you sometime start directly in your fav editor (which is certainly sublimetext, haha).
Themes are more and more minimalist, so do we still need to open photoshop? Maybe for the structure and the general guidelines of the design?

No PSD here i think it’s a waste of time. Once you figure out the layout you do not need the psd.

I never start designing something without opening Fireworks. That, after sketches on paper
mafloral saidI agree with you. I just code it. But before I open notepad, I do some thinking (most of the time while throwing tenis ball into the wall) and then do some skatches on the paper like wickedpixel. No photoshop, I’m dumb for that.

For me, I always start with a PSD , and most of the time a full PSD website with all pages.
It helps me a lot to figure out everything with the website, and make the coding process much easier, because I always keep in mind the HTML /CSS when designing the site in Photoshop. This way I know how should everything be structured in the code late on.
That’s benefit of being both graphic and web designer
Cool to have different opinions, wanna hear more! Others?
Btw, I also think that a sketch (at least a quick one) is essential before starting the html

It sure helps to be both

A sketch is essential before even the PSD step

If there’s a PSD step, of course!

No. Once you have a sketch, and then a solid PSD , your HTML /WP/etc. workflow will be amazingly faster. I for one do both Sketch and PSD .
