Greetings,
I just started to follow an Adobe Illustrator tutorial, I have a body shape and created an arm shape. I would like to place it behind the body, how can I achieve that? Thanks indeed for help.
open the layer panel (F7) -> select the arm shape -> drag it below the body shape
ctrl+[ = Back ctrl+]= front
good luck

All my shapes are in 1 layer.
@graphcoder, don’t understand your method.
Click on the object (arm)
then select from the top menu
OBJECT > ARRANGE > SEND TO BACK
there you will see the keystokes for Command [ send backwards, and command ] send forwards
Just think of Firefox
page back COMMAND [
and page forward COMMAND ]
Works for me!

http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/?id=vid0041Thanks a lot for help guys, it worked. Now I have another problem, is there a faster way to choose colors for gradient like in photoshop? (type the code of hexadecimal colors).
When I add a gradient, I have 2 methods of choosing the color: preset colors and some strange color board which is awful to use:

And the second question, when using the line tool. How can I adjust the width like in Photoshop, where you choose the size in pt.
You aac drag a color from swatches onto the color indicater.
Also, option drag a new indicator for more options
