The minimum CS version is the minimum version of Adobe software that can open and edit your file. It depends on the technique you use on your file and the software you use. For example, you created an item in Photoshop CS4 , but the feature is simple enough for a buyer with Photoshop CS2 to open and edit it perfectly, without any glitch, so the minimum CS version here is CS2 .

I think what GraphicCreativity means, is when submitting a file how to determine what is the minimum Photoshop version, if for example he has made a psd file in CS5 , how to determine if that file opens up in CS2 for example.
I’d like to know that as well :)

Great idea! Someone got £20k spare and a few machines? Ideal. :P

It’s a tricky one – most common things we tend to use work in all versions of CS. The only problems I’ve come across so far is with Smart Objects: only CS5 (possibly CS4 … not sure) can ‘skew’ a Smart Objects perspective – eg, to make a 3d product box shape.

There are a few discrepancies with manipulating text in this way too.

I’ve had a look for a list but nothing to be found so far – with so many possibilities of problems it’s hard to say what will and wont work.

If in doubt set the file you are uploading to whatever you created it in as the minimum. :)
