Hi I’m kind of new to Theme-forest and was wondering how to create a good theme? Like what are some expected features. But one of my most important questions is how do you design a good website? I’m good at coding the websites, but cannot really design, so any tips guys?
Thanks for the help!
Well you could always look at the themes that sell well on the marketplace and use them for inspiration. Browse sites such as creattica and look through the webdesign section over at tutsplus. You can also go to the item discussion section of ThemeForest and look at rejected templates to see why people get rejected as well as browse the Before and After thread to see the changes that were required to get people’s templates approved.
Apart from that just try try try.
I have lots of ideas and inspiration, but find it hard to start off in photoshop. I have trouble getting started, like the base colors, and the overall placement of the items. So should I say use free PSDs, strip them down to the very basic background, then go from there? would that work?
I personally wouldn’t do that, start by sketching in a piece of paper and take it to photoshop
thats a great idea! thank you for your help!
For any other ideas on what and where you should start working on your theme, be sure to check other’s work or piece of art. You might get a much better view on what you wish to make.
Start by outlining the purpose of the theme. Think about exactly who the theme is for and what will they need it to do?
Then look at real world websites that perform a similar job to see what they do and how they do it. This will give you ideas about potential layouts.
