Hi all ye “smack like” addicts of purchases! Just wondering if other buyers have slowed down as much as i have? I don’t seem to be depositing as much money into my profile to constantly keep buying themes. It’s almost like the price rise (that should have been done along time ago, but in a better manner), has thrown me off my buying and spending MOJO . If I look at my buying pattern, I was almost buying a 2-3 themes every month.

We are in day 17 of June, and still have not bought a theme. Am I cured from the price rise that we didn’t get a nice smooth warning about?

But on another note it has made me think I need to be an author now, and see how sales go. I will be interested to hear from other buyers to see how their spending mojo is going. I will also like to hear from some authors to hear if the price rise has caused a small halt on their sales.

Granted that the price rise does mean you only have to sell a few less to still make the same margin, but with less questions to answer ;)

There was a post last month about Authors sales slowing down considerable, but mostly on Graphic River. Not everyone, but generally. Probably a mix of economics, annual rhythm and price changes.

Not really. If I can afford $40 for a theme, it’s not like an extra $10 is going to kill me. On the whole, themeforest items are massively under-priced for what we’re getting and the amount of work that’s gone into them.

Please don’t get me wrong, I think the authors deserve to make these double the price at a very minimum. Even that is cheap.. I guess all I am saying is that inflating the price the way it has been done has semi deflated my purchasing mojo. At 336 purchases, I think I have spent around $6-7K in 2 years. I am just being more frugal now even though it has gone up only $10 (not complaining, just curious to see what others thoughts are).

I’ve noticed this trend over the years, I think it’s due to the summer vacations in the US, large segment of buyers are American and maybe working less / buying less due to summer, vacations etc. Looking at my past sales over the last 5 years, there is a recurring dip in sales over June/July. Similar trend over the end of year holiday season but that’s more global. So i wouldn’t worry or read into it too much ;)

You not going to notice this dip if you have a new file selling well now, but for those authors who occasionally have something selling well, they might notice this dip. And also if you’re selling more than 50 items a month, obviously the less you sell, the harder it is to notice sales trends on a couple of sales per month. But the general consensus seems like June/July, weekends and end of year holiday season is a little slower than normal. Which basically means purchases generally occur when buyers are at work :D So ya this is off topic a bit, since the point I think the thread starter is making that the prices are higher or something, but if authors are going to think that a drop in sales is caused by this, I would also take into account what I’ve mentioned here.

The sales for me have slowed down just a little bit, not much really…due to the lack of me uploading new items…which is normal…and understandable. I also think weekends the things tend to go slow, rest of the days are ok :)
