I wouldn’t know why not :o There’s used to be this trick where people included analytics by including a 1×1 image invisible image that ran a php snippit, in their description.

Any official answer? :P

It is technically possible to put analytics on a website that you do not own? Or you refer to previews that are hosted on your server?

I don’t know I guess it is (since you have write permissions to that HTML , I guess google assume it’s yours)

Lots of people using many different ways for analytics. I don’t think its banned to use Google Analytics. You can also use flag counters etc. But ofcourse Google is the best.

I’m using same method. The report is not complete, though, but at least you get an aprox. idea of the visits.

^ The problem is not the techonology but the integration. You can’t embed GA scripts on files in domains taht you don’t own or control.

I use it on my profile. It’s a php file as an image basically. You lose some info like referring sites, but it’s ok.

Pez: everything can be worked around:) I was able to get sharedobject data from a 3rd domain. Clever setup, nothing hack or illegal, I owned all the domains but the sttings needed to be stored as a different domain’s.
