I submit a theme last week in PSD and its been accepted ..

http://themeforest.net/item/studio-theme-portfolio-blog/37359

I coded it .. and guess what .. rejected :P

http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/studiohtml/intro.html

The reviewers talked about changing the navigation and the footer … But .. why has it been accepted in PSD (Wich is supposed to be higher criteria than coded) and now its not good in html ? .. do you see big difference between my PSD and my HTML ? ..

For the menu , he told me I use a font that some people doesnt have .. but I used Helvetica .. isnt it supposed to be a good font for web ?

Another reason was because the help file wasnt really complete.. wich I agree.

At the end of the message , the reviewers wrote this : “Please keep in mind these may only be a few of the issues that will need improvements or fixes.”

My english is not 100% perfect so can you guys tell me what he meant ? .. what I understand is that he only told me few thing I could improve .. and that there is many more .. If this is what he meant .. that is weird because it got approved on PSD ..

Anyway .. im pissed off .. this will probably be my last theme here , difference between reviewers are really huge and it start to bothering me a lot because I always get approved by the same reviewers and I always get rejected by the same :) kinda weird no ?

Anyway .. thanks guy

I just want to say about “Please keep in mind these may only be a few of the issues that will need improvements or fixes.” phrase.

I’m not the reviewer here, but I think that he tried to say that only few issues have to be fixed for the template to be accepted.

DDStudios, try to be patient and ask for answers before getting upset. Ask for answers first, then if you don’t like what you hear you can get upset.

First, you mentioned you had used a Vista font that not all people may have. I assumed you used a non-standard font for some of your elements because of the comments you wrote to the reviewer. The navigation typography doesn’t go well with the template so I assumed it was due to the font you mentioned, my mistake.

The part at the end of the message means that the template might have other issues that will need to be fixed or improved in which I haven’t mentioned. Reviewers don’t have enough time to list every issue with items but we do our best to list a few. I include that line in most of the reviews I do because often times authors will resubmit a template having only fixed some or part of the issues I mentioned which may not be enough to meet our criteria.

Now about the template being accepted into the PSD category. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will be accepted into another category even though the visual standards are usually higher. Sometimes we reviewers disagree on items and need to discuss it further and/or get Jeffrey’s input. In this instance the reviewer of your PSD template and I disagree on the aesthetics.

I hope this helps clarify the situation. You have a very nice template going but I think it needs some refinements before it will meet our criteria.

You agree the help file wasn’t complete….that alone should be an automatic rejection until it is clarified. Why would you want to sell a template without a complete help file? It is an easy fix.

Secondly, and I have not seen the coding, but the difference between and psd and html theme is the markup and code, which needs to be of high quality as well.

Trust me, I know rejection sucks, especially when the psd has been approved, but just take some time to calm down. Then, logically make your argument and ask for further clarification. No one wants you to leave ThemeForest :)

next time, this is just a suggestion, write in the comment that you had PSD template accepted already so reviewer will have no options than to accept coded version as well :D

Lol .. thats funny Darius :)

Anyway , I will complete the help file better an re-submit it without any visual change. The template look good that way , it got accepted in PSD wich is really hard so even If my html theme would be uglier than my PSD , it should get accepted.

I submitted the PSD just to see if I was ok with the design because I already got rejected on an html theme because of the design wich is really hard to tweak after … so this time I was sure the design was good and then you reject it … something is wrong here , something is wrong with you dude.

I really dont take it personal , I love my template and I know it look good.

I know your job is tough , but I totally disagree with every decision you take .. sorry man.

I will ask my theme to be review by the same person who accept my PSD .. I think its fair.

So can I have a vote here ? assuming the help file is more complete , how many person think that should get approved ? Maybe im wrong here so I really want to have your opinions.

Thanks

Hi DDStudios,

To answer some of your questions:

1) Just because a PSD template is accepted does not mean that it will also be accepted as an HTML template ( and vice versa ). We have to take other factors into consideration, including coding, validation, etc.

I’m glad to hear that you’ll be revising your help template; this is very important for your buyers.

2) Though we strive to be as consistent as possible, it’s impossible for two reviewers to look at a template from the exact same set of eyes. As a result, their decisions will differ a bit, naturally. Having said that, we still do our best.

If you’d like to know my opinion of your template, you’re more than welcome to email me at sitemanager@themeforest.net

Thanks Jeffrey ,

I know that code and validation is important and all my pages validate and my code is done the same way than my 3 other HTML theme so this time , its really based on the visual aspect.

I will write you an email. Thanks

hey one thing that i see that need fixing is the aligning of the numbers for the slider, they’re off a bit from center.
