@ait, I think you would need to ask Mark that one, since he’s themeforest’s site manager now. But I actually think, keeping extended license sales high for themeforest is a better idea.
As far as the topic, I have received quite a few extended license sales now. I just had a new item approved this morning and my first sale was an extended license.
