Hello GR authors…... and RESPECT !!
I’m very new here, skilled in the old ways of an artist, but very keen to convert to cyber artist. I am lucky enough to have one texture file out of three accepted here on GR. I need to learn a lot more about the technicalities of files for web designers of your collected ‘stature’.
What are the most convenient/preferred file formats and pixel areas for backgrounds/textures? (My upload speed here in South Africa rarely exceeds 56 bps)
Are there any standard ‘template sizes/formats’ for banners/labels/icons etc?
I know these are basic questions but i cannot find anything related here in the forums, and i have found some very technical websites but drown in them. Any directions to paddling pools will be much appreciated.

Usually the background/textures comes in PSD /JPG, or JPG alone. If by pixel area you meant dimensions, then there’s no set rule for dimensions. Try to determine the dimensions generally kept by authors by looking at files here. http://graphicriver.net/category/graphics/backgrounds

Again, there aren’t any standard sizes for them. Icons are usually created with dimensions like 32×32, 48×48, 64×64, 128×128 and so on. As for the formats, I think icons can be provided with PSD /PNG, or just PNG . Labels and banners can be provided in the same way but I guess they’d need source files (PSD or AI or EPS ) with them so that buyer can customize them.
Thanks a lot, Rain cutter, already this is a help. I was obviously not using the proper language in the Wiki search!
