Today I had some spare time and I’ve built a little utility to search through the comments of specific files. Basically I use google, but this utility really helps you to filter the search results.
You guys can try it here:
http://www.parkerandkent.com/envato_search/
It’s enough to add the page URL of the file, enter the search terms and press the search button. The utility will show, using google, only the comments of that specific file that contain the search string you’ve entered.
Well, it’s easier to use it than to explain how it works… it is very stupid, but I hope it can help buyers to find the answers they’re looking for, without the need to browse manually all the comments of the files.
Thanks to the Flash Shared Objects, your preferred files will stay in the list for future needs.
Cheers,
Parker
EDIT :
Obviously this is not an official envato utility and it has some limits. In any case, in some situations, it can help.

Down?
Mmm, strange… I see it… probably MediaTemple is down in other countries
Nice idea
Just a question – it sends me to the Italian version of google. Is there a way you can select what language of google you would prefer?
Cheers!

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ve updated and now sends the search to google.com (I used the address of my test in the file). Clear the browser cache to check.
I guess google.com is fine for searching in envato comments, but if is a need, i can add an option to chose a different google domain.
