Just curious, can we use FBI Seal on our items somehow or envato would not allow it?
If yes. What would be the best way to do it?

I say not in a commercial project like the items on this website are. I be very careful with government stuff, especially if you are from US. Sign, flags, seals are protected by laws against use that may diminish their prestige and importance or something like that.

If you want to consider wikipedia as a source:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI_Seal

The FBI actively polices the use of its seal and has taken action against commercial vendors using it without authorization.

I’m just saying that he is more easy to find and get sued by fbi if he start messing with their seal :)

I read my post again and may be interpreted in some distorted ways :) but it was not my intention. Now I’m not an expert of laws about governmental institutions but I’m using common sense. Is like trying to use the Microsoft logo but worse, since that is a law agency.

Now regarding Italy and buying online don’t even get me started. :)

It’s like the 8 world wonder, i send something registers to some AD member (few times) to Italy and the Di Penates god takes it (Di Penates was a Rome god from the Rome goddess mythology).

Just amazing, but now i know why 90% of the eBay seller will not ship to Italy.

Till now FBI Seal can only be used by Movie Industry or maybe someone else, but it was not allowed for photographers, musician or designers. Now they allowing photographers, musicians and designers to use it.

I will agree with @doru that is better not to play around with government stuff. That’s why I brought it here wanted to see what other people think about it, but most important I wanted to see what envato lawyers will say about it.

Honestly I came to conclusion that not many people want to do much about this problem anyways. Most of you who is active on the forum remember I offered to organize the community to fight this problem but sadly only 4 authors really wanted to do something. Everyone else just wanted someone else to do it for them or see some magic happen. I offered an idea, but didn’t want to open whole thing up, I wanted to see how many people really care to do something and by my experience people don’t want to go further than say “I’m interested” or “That me know if you need some help” or “Envato do something”.

I decided not to waist any of my time on this subject and instead to protect my self. I think FBI Seal can be used somehow safe but I’m not sure how that’s why I brought it up here.

^ Folksnet, You are right, actually none of us would want to spend time on protection for long run – and so team work wont last long. May be a little bit motivation or frustration can result temporary efforts but nothing more than that.

Regarding Envato’s part, I would suggest authors to request more fluent and flexible licensing solutions from Envato than expecting efforts towards camels and giraffe population control. I clearly see we are missing out genuine buyers due to licensing confusion than other ways.
