I’m currently doing an intensive AS3 course for the next few weeks, and I’m sure P&K and Triworks will be pushing out AS3 this year so things are going to get very interesting![]()
Am I being too optimistic to hope that when you guys stop using AS2 , that would influence my AS2 sales for the better?

Yep I think once I make the switch, I won’t make any more AS2 files.. just support the old ones and update them if needed… so AS2 competition will become less if more switch to AS3 , but at the same time the market for AS2 will get smaller as AS3 becomes more popular so not sure if it will benefit AS2 sellers that much.. we’ll have to see what happens.

For me learning AS3 was easier then learning AS2 …
with a good c#.net background . learning AS3 just felt natural to me
As someone that is a buyer and not a seller. First I have to learn how to use the files. So the first thing I did was picked up a few books on Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop.. etc.. So I want to learn from and with a well laid out template. I run some tutorials on Flash CS4 Vs CS3 .. whats new … AS2 vs AS3 .. Took all of two seconds to realize that I dont want to start using a template to learn on that was AS2 … or was not CS4 compatible. I don’t want to sound to crude but most of the new files are still coming out with AS2 on this site. Almost by that alone sorting by date I almost didnt stick around to look at some of the great work done by some.
I sell home theater products and its like me trying to sell a 720P projector to people and not having a 1080P projector available. I will eventually sell nothing.
The other thing that I noted is that some sellers do not respond to questions on their own product. I looked at one template and asked a couple of simple questions and its been 5 days with no response,, and over 8 days from others asking. People generally when they see this are going to get turned off. Even though I like this template better than another I will buy the one where the author is here and responsive.
In any event if this stuff is putting food on your table I would be updating the skills. New AS2 files are probably going to have the effect of making people stop coming to this site to purchase.
Not just in sales, also in forum threads

Not just in sales, also in forum threadsJust a note that the forum links on each marketplace now take you directly to the specific forum, not “All Topics” as it used to do, so this may be the cause of why you see “less” threads![]()

I understand your frustration as myself I hate those software houses or any business who don’t answer at eventual questions. Or is difficult to find a contact for example. But this can’t be applied here. Note that envato staff will always answer to your question, but the authors are not obligated to do it.
The authors may provide after-purchase technical support, at their discretion.
this link will explain you better how all thing works.

While not being compelled to, some authors should focus on providing better support for their files, otherwise the customers (and the potential ones, for that matter) will never consider purchasing (again) from that author…. I’m speaking from an experienced (buyer’s) perspective

You should not underestimate support. I found wonderful clients to work with, while I was answering their questions. Some of them hired me, this means extra income.
