So in the extend license it says this:
a website template for sale (including on ThemeForest or ActiveDen) – Details
Does that mean what I think it does? This used to not be the case when did it change?
I think you are referring to CodeCanyon Extended License? If yes, then it was always like that. You can purchase EL for, say, slider and use it in your TF theme.
I think it’s great. But I mean, it’s only: “Your use of the Work is limited to a single application.”
And if a codecanyon author doesn’t like it he can always exclude his item from the extended license.

I support cross marketplace usage and think it’s a win-win for both CC and TF authors. There needs to be more discussion about it in my opinion though. For example, the original help documents should not be included. Mostly because these documents often include branding, and if included it gives the impression that the TF author has somehow “partnered” with the CC author which is not the case. And if not removed, it could potentially damage the CC author’s reputation, especially if the TF author broke the original component by mistake or doesn’t provide quality support.

Well this is great news. I will gladly buy an extended license for every file I use the file in.
CodingJack, I think you’re right. I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve ever heard about it. You’re also right about the branding and the help docs.
Can AD files extend license be used in TF files too?

I think it only affects to CC. Extended license prices on CC is ridiculous, imho.
I’ve disabled it (even when the E.L. has reported me some good incomes in the past on AD) because it makes non sense that someone can purchase your CC script on $8 and resale it on TF along with a full template for $12.

That is true, I’ve only seen some with good extended license pricing, the rest is way too cheap.

I warned all TF authors about this at least a year maybe 2 ago – that intact if you have say a html template with extended license – someone can buy it the convert to wordpress and sell on same marketplace.
It’s why most people turned it off.

This is why the extended license program needs a complete overhaul. Because what’s the point of having it if so many authors are going to opt-out because of concerns like this.
Also, my guess is that a lot authors who’ve opted-in to extended licenses don’t fully understand what can and can’t be done with regards to reselling on the marketplaces.
Authors should be polled and asked if they’re using extended licenses, and if not, why? Because that’s the best possible data to collect concerning the program in my opinion.
