I’m a totally newbie in “most wanted”, so it may be a trivial question:
It’s allowed to submit Joomla version of my WP plugins?

Just out of curiosity, is there a version restriction? I might have some of my custom plugins in my archives somewhere for v1.5 or less.

Good question! I’ll find out. :)

Unfortunately I quit developing for Joomla a few years back. After Joomla did a major rewrite sometime around 1.5 or 1.6. After evaluating it’s popularity, performance, and end user ease of use (my clients), to that of WordPress – I quickly realized WordPress was the future of blogging – and CMS . After I switched to WordPress I’ve never looked back.

WordPress is a clear favorite for many, of course. There’s definitely an audience for Joomla however, have you seen how popular Joomla items are on ThemeForest? On all our marketplaces we don’t just allow authors to provide content for one category, we make it possible for authors to earn money in as many different categories and areas of expertise as possible. As long as there’s an audience for a particular kind of content, it becomes a viable option and opportunity for authors to pursue.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with if you do decide to enter! :)

Quite simply, because this is a Joomla contest/event and Joomla is pretty popular right now and it’s something we’re excited to get involved with for our Joomla audience of both customers and authors. Just because we are running a Joomla event it doesn’t mean that everything else is less important or that we will never run other events for other categories. If you’ve noticed, we are starting to offer Envato’s Most Wanted opportunities for lots of categories across lots of our marketplaces. I’m pretty sure there will be more opportunities for other categories in the future, you’re just going to have to stay tuned to see what we offer next! :)

All submissions MUST be 2.5 compatible. The requirements in the announcement have been updated to reflect this. Thanks for checking, CodeFusion! :)

Holey Crap! Joomla is up to 2.5? Maybe I’ve been away a lot longer than I thought – Or their “pulling a FireFox” and just jumping major versions to keep up with WordPress. Either way, maybe it’s time I peek under their hood to see what they’ve been up to.
