I’m rather tired of seeing people with 200+ posts (all from doing this!) posting in every single post in the forum that may possibly relate to customization or some web services. Please start telling them to bug off and go to freelanceswitch as it really floods the community and makes others do it as well.

I dont think Landon is speaking about people asking for help, which is perfectly fine from where i come from.
The tiresome thing is a certain person replieing to every single request, no matter how obvious it is that someone doesnt need a freelancer but just a recommendation for a theme from tf or a free plugin spamming away advertising for their freelance business.

@jins, you are more than welcome to post here, though you should also consider http://freelanceswitch.com
The point is that some freelancers use this space as their own personal gig-search. Now, there is currently no rule against this, so I let these posts fly, but here is how I see it:
Case 1: A customer posts asking for a freelancer
Responses to these types of threads with offers for custom/freelancer work are just fine (note this is where @jins’s post falls).
Case 2: A customer posts asking for a recommendation about a theme/plugin/product
In this case, the user is looking for a recommendation for an existing product, not a custom solution. Here, I would consider offers for custom development to be SPAM (unwanted and irrelevant) and should be treated as such.
Of course, there is also a lot of grey area in between, where a request may be ambiguous.
Again, this is just my opinion as an individual. As a mod, I don’t believe this is currently against forum rules – though I wouldn’t be opposed to one.

jins, please feel free to post your item request in the designated topic!
There is no rule dictating you must go to freelanceswitch to post your project but it is recommended. I hope you find someone to help you with your project!

The type of clients / freelancer requests differ between the forums and FS. Better create a new “Customization Requests” section on the forums.

I would be happy with that.

+100, but Envato should just ban these wickedinnovations people and we are good again. Because we all know it’s only their three profiles that cause all the f*
I think it’s one thing for themeforest authors (= people who work for Envato) to take freelance jobs from themeforest buyers (= people who are “clients of Envato”), but it’s another thing for people only registering on themeforest to either only post or only reply to requests. These belong to freelance-sites, not to themeforest.
Has been on my mind for long, I’m glad someone finally speaks it out.
