Encryption for FD preview, thought.

I stumble on idea.

Let’s say you submit file for FD preview.

First you make external loader under the name preview that will load the original swf under the name Test.swf. Now here is the thing lets say some X person is decompiled my preview the only thing he will see in my preview is the loader code but he can see my new URLRequest(“Test.swf “); and try to track it ,here is the interesting thing lets say i can Encrypt the word Test.swf so when he decompiled it he will see a scrambled string instead of the word Test.swf this way he will never find the original swf link. I think i can make this type of Encryption on the AS with out the need of php.

Its sound too simple but i will give it a try.

Those from mochimedia have a very interesting and powerfull encryption/protection system, its very difficult to get the code or the media content inside the swf, and for an average user its nearly impossible. Maybe envato should take a look and find someone who know how to do something like that and implement it on this marketplace.

Encrypting software in AS3 simple doesn’t do the job well.

Also with my original thought this will be very helpful for flash animations base since they will never find the swf ,the only problem i have is with the decompiled software version, on each version they change i need to start all over again. I cover the base with 4.5 but with version 5 i am still working on it

Those de-encryption software companies are bogus. They say that the purpose for decrypting files is to recover your own lost source files. Its a total scam, because they keep changing their software based on their tests of other people’s decryption prevention methods. Its simple to say its for retrieving your own lost information, but they have a bigger interest and its not to help people do the right thing. Their interest is the money they gain form selling their software. So they make their software and target anyone who is desperate enough to use it. And the main reason people buy that software is to illegally retrieve copyrighted material that isn’t rightfully theirs. THAT is their main target audience. That’s where they get most of their money from. They just make it harder for people to follow the rules.

With AS2 those software doing a great job.

With AS3 it’s a pure waste of money.

You’re telling someone who thinks the whole concept, idea and execution of the product is a waste of money. Those who are desperate enough to illegally decrypt someone else’s file should forget about it and learn how to develop their own AS files, no matter what version AS it is. And those software companies should learn how to respect people’s privacy, instead of proposing some lie about how they mean to do upright things with their products. They do more harm than good, and that’s something that just isn’t worth the bargain or the manufacturing of such an abominable failed excuse for a software product. Like I said, they’re only doing it for the profit of cash while it does more harm than good. Abomination indeed.

My guess is that the people who use it with illegal stuff in mind, have an unpaid copy of such de-compilers..

But.. some of these companies sell encryption software as well, so it all serves a dual purpose; show the world you can de-compile an SWF , thus developers need their protection software..

You mean like FRICTION and RUBBER SOLES on shoes? Might as well make that example too. We need friction to be able to slow down or halt. But friction wears down the bottoms of my shoes. Those decryption companies are bogus though. We need friction, who needs to decompile their own swf? MAKE EXTRA COPIES OF YOUR IMPORTANT PROJECTS !! Its not hard to make into a practice.

It works … up to a point …

But no matter what you do to encrypt the name of the actual main working swf it still has to be downloaded and cached on the user’s machine to be executed (and that download process needs the unencrypted name, otherwise it can’t find it on the server), and anyone who knows where to look can find that cached copy, and/or the reference to its unencrypted name, on their system after running the file via the encrypted loader. But there are ways you can make that really difficult to find. ( eg: I posted this example during a previous discussion of AS3 encryption – no one was able to extract the main working PV3D swf, or find its real name, at the time)
