Dear All
I posted a few days ago a thread on “Off Topic” about my tracks where the licencing has expired and i gained full rights again, saying i’m giving this tracks free to everyone out there to enjoy. I did that because most of them are anyway on the filesharing / mp3 sharing sites and it would not make any sense to try selling them again. This was never meant to be like a self promoting or free giveaway for potetnial customers ( this is also why i posted it on the offtopic site ).
So, what is the reason my thread has been deleted without even letting me know about it ? Is it unfair to give away stuff which can’t be sold here on AJ anyway ? Who would it harm ? And why is it OK on some other Envato marketplaces, for moderators and other authors ?
Either it should be strictly the same for everyone, or people will get upset ( yes it’s me ).
Thanks for your understanding.

Hello SonicCube.
I can understand where you are coming from and I would presume that the reason the thread was deleted was because of the below section of the forum rules.
A Note on Self Promotion
Because of the commercial nature of the Envato networks, authors are expected to understand and respect the fact that using the forum to post links to one’s own items, or to give away free files to the community, is not allowed. This practice effectively undercuts the hard work of all authors who wish to sell their items fairly, and as such it is not tolerated.
Just for the record I did a similar thing at one time as well with some music I had deleted from AJ and decided to give away, so I speak from experience.
I hope that helps a little.
Also note that if people are interested in you they can always click your avatar, end up on your profile page and then further learn more about you via your links from there like Twitter, Youtube… etc, etc. I do that often when I find an author I really like (like you!).

Hello John
Thank you for your reply, really appreciate your sharing own experiences here.
The thing is, that i’m aware of the self promoting problem, as well as the free giveaway thing. I did not post something which could be sold here otherwise and could be a unfair thing against other authors. It’s only something i wanted to do for all the trance / progressive lovers we have here in the community. I dont think i can generate “clicks” or even selling more of my items here on Aj by doing this, as i don’t even want people / customers judging me by these old stuff. It was ONLY meant to be for the fellow authors / and friends here, this is why i posted to the OFF TOPIC .
Whatever, Envato makes the rules, but it really pisses me off, that it’s not the same for everyone here and i run trough quite a few issues like this in the past few weeks. I could name here to many examples of Authors being promoted by themselfes or by others, even by admins. What about all this “I got now my silver paw” or “look my work used in a television commercial HERE ”. Is this not shameless self promotion ? Dear, i just wanted to share some useless old tracks, which i do also on my “regular” websites and plattforms.
And NO, i wont report whenever i see something in a forum which could be wrong and should not be allowed.
I can understand your frustration … the approach I take is the same I would in life. Just do the best you can and your work will speak for itself. There is a fine line between being noticed and telling others to check out your work to excess. I have not mastered that by any means.
As far as giving away free stuff soundcloud is one option… and I know you have an account over there. Just create a set of free stuff. Not exactly sharing with the AJ community like you wanted to do, but still sharing with fellow musicians. And there are plenty of AJ’ers on there if you look at this thread http://audiojungle.net/forums/thread/who-is-on-soundcloud/36362
You do a fantastic job with your items SonicCube and I envy your 442 sales! I wouldn’t sweat this.

Hello John
I don’t want to steal your time with argueing about this. Please only respect that i DON ’T do things like this for promotion purpose. It would be the wrong attempt to get attention with old stuff i made 8 years ago.

Hey SonicCube!
UnseenBattle has already helped and responded to most of your questions but just for the record:
Your thread was locked only yesterday. Our support system was down last night but I can assure you that when threads get locked/removed we do contact the author about it. So expect an e-mail from support about it.
Secondly, I am interested and concerned to hear that you think that the same rules aren’t being applied to everyone. If they’re not, they should be, and therefore, it is important that issues are brought to our attention via the right channels (and not in the forums) so we can investigate and check that nothing untoward or unfair is taking place. Therefore, please contact support and share your concerns, we’ll be glad to take a look to double-check everything is in order.
Meanwhile, as these issues should be dealt with through support and not here in the forums, I’m going to lock this thread. I do encourage you to contact us via support however if you wish to continue this conversation. Thanks for understanding and hope to hear from you soon.
