Hey guys, just need your opinions on something. My friends starting to make custom computers and then sell them, so here is the specs of two he’s made so far:

-Windows 7 Home Premium
-3.0GHz Quad Core AM2 + Black Edition Processor
-4GB DDR2 (1200mhz) RAM
-1TB Western Digital 7200RPM Hard Drive
-NVIDIA GeForce GT220 1GB GFX Card
-Brand New Custom Built

And the OTHER :

-Intel Core i5 760 Processor – 2.8GHz, LGA 1156 , 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core
-Corsair 4GB DDR3 RAM – 1333MHz, 4096MB
-Seagate Hard Drive – 1TB, 5900rpm, 32MB
-Galaxy GeForce GT 430 Video Card – 1GB Dedicated
-Case that can hold 8×3.5” hard drives and 4 disk drive trays
-Brand New Custom Built

I’m not trying to sell them to you! :P But how much would you pay?

In my opinion:

First setup -

Get rid of the GT220 , It is just a rebranded version of one of their older cards and is a very budget gaming GPU . Overall the system is decent but i would get DDR3 instead of DDR2 and replace the GPU with either a GTX460 or an ATI 5770 (Both of which are slightly higher priced then the GT220 but with the rest of the specs it’ll be a massive jump and will be able to play a lot of recent games maxxed with decent FPS )

Second setup again i would replace the GT430 with something newer like like the GTX460 or ATI 5770 i mentioned which will both last another year or two with this generation i reckon.

Of course you didin’t say the purpose of them or the budget/market your friend is aiming at but those are just some changes i’d personally make. :)

you have not said what the computers are for, which make a big difference.

The main problem with both the machines is the hard drives, the rpm is too low you want more 10000 or 15000 to get really good performance or they will just be the bottle neck of the system.
