I hope this feature will not delay the queue more.

I will not use this option, it will only introduce confusion into AJ.

Yeah I don’t really get this, I think after a while some avatars get a brand thing to them, like when I see Tim’s avatar on front page I am always curious to see what new thing he has come up with so I click on it. If you went into a store to buy coke and didn’t see it because you were looking for the coke label you would buy pepsi and the coke in its new unknown label would remain on the shelf. Sure if you looked carefully you might see the name but when your browsing through a lot of items you would probably would not take notice to new label.
I also agree with cooper anything that will make review process more complicated for the team is probably not the best thing right now.
Great news for people who wanted this feature. Personally, i’m afraid i won’t be using this feature as well.
I don’t know if it’s hard to make the flash player detect an image embedded in the mp3 file like your regular desktop media player. It could save us a lot of time to beautify our item page if implemented like that. Now it requires extra time to upload a thumbnail and doesn’t add much beauty.
Still good for a few people who’ll be using it.
Cheers

You’re all right, maybe, about how the change on the “brand” each of us make of our avatar could confuse someone if we change it on every song, but I see two benefits:
1- You can still have your old avatar embedded on the cover art thumbnail (like Tim Mcmorris… )
2- If someone check your portfolio page, not an individual item, and if the cover is appealing, you can brought the attention more to a particular item (the cover could help describe the song for instance) than a bunch of clone avatars.
Just my two cents
Agreed with soundengine.

If you come back Carmen, one more question:
Will this option be available for TRAX too? I tried changing those as well, but there is no option at the moment.
As far as the other comments whether it is good or bad, though I didn’t ask for this request I welcome the change for one main reason: It’s gives us as authors a choice.
Want to keep your image brand? Keep it as it is. Want to add a picture? Add one. I think it’s win win really, not sure why it’s being received kind of negatively.
I guess probably because it’s change and the fear of the unknown (whether it is good, bad, or neutral for sales) makes people nervous.
Guess I will find out soon.

Yes this new feature is a nice option to have.
But certainly the DEVs time could be used for more important tasks.
Maybe that makes some people including me a bit negative about it.
@Tim
Don’t take it as negativity, it’s a good feature but everyone would be happier if developers channelled their energy into more useful things.
Actually I remember mentioning a cover art feature (as i described above) a few months back and in the same thread soniccube mentioned a html block to update all your pages simultaneously and everybody seemed to like it. Honestly i don’t remember anyone requesting the current feature.
If I were envato, i’d go with soniccube’s request first because it seemed to be top priority in that thread when they asked us what features we would love to see.
