They have to pay you, they just wanna wait as long as possible for interest like you said. And when you spend your earnings within the marketplace you don’t get to withdraw it at all, and the author of what you buy only gets a small cut and has to wait too, and may buy something out of curiosity with those earnings while waiting for his withdrawal.. and the cycle continues. Especially if they haven’t reached their minimum balance, there is a lot of $$ worth of “insufficient funds” sitting around leaving some of the less successful/experienced members discouraged and frustrated. Justify it any way you want.. they’re being too greedy and it affects real people, not just usernames.

Endat,

Transferring money is not free. There are a lot of accounts to pay out, and Envato incurs that transaction cost (for PayPal at least). So Envato can either hold your money for a bit longer and reduce the payout frequency, or they can take a bigger cut. Isn’t it worth it to wait a bit longer and get more money?

Speaking of cuts – Envato’s got pretty much the highest commission rate around – especially relative to the volume of business done around here. If you have a better commission rate offer and can earn the same money elsewhere, no one is preventing you from doing so.

You’re upset that you can’t keep yourself from spending your money on other products? That’s silly; Envato is not responsible for your lack of self-restraint.

Finally, you agreed to the payment schedule when you signed up. If you weren’t amenable to those terms, why did you agree?

A business isn’t greedy just because it earns money. Don’t lash out because you misunderstood how things work. I understand your frustration in missing the deadline and having to wait; but Envato hasn’t done anything wrong here.

Of course it’d be nice to be paid more frequently; but the economics of the situation won’t allow it. Once you are being paid regularly, it doesn’t really matter if you’re paid once a month or once a week, as long as you’re managing your funds appropriately.

Best of luck to you!

Check out the historical payment rates. When we started you had to sell $300,000 before reaching the 70% commission rate :) much better now.

Also the 15 days helps with copyright. eg: if someone uploads a stolen product on the last day of the month and makes $100, then withdraws that amount at the end of the month, there is 15 days for that copyright issue to be reported and the funds revoked. If funds were withdrawn instantly (ie: not held for 15 days) then people could abuse the system.

Really it all comes down to a very simple payment schedule. We get paid once a month, which is just fine imho. For me I get the cash on about the 17th or 18th after PayPal delays.

Not trying to a dick mate but you don’t have to be here, you have the option of using another marketplace. And I never had a prob with the withdrawal. It’s once a month. At the start of each month, just tick “All earnings available at 30 Jun 2012 23:59:59” etc. (yes, envato should have an option to automate this). Peace :)

I never said I have an impulse control problem, do you see any purchase icons next to my name? I could easily remake anything in any of these marketplaces.

I earned about $600 in sales from my last upload, I got $300, Envato got $300.. it was up for a few weeks. I have since removed that product from the marketplaces, re-purposed it and did my sales differently and since then it has earned more than I am owed by Envato.. money that I can have immediately… I have yet to be paid a single penny from that same product on CodeCanyon (although this month, I will get my original $300 (FINALLY)).

It’s up to you how you capitalize on your own intellectual property. I’m just saying, I would rather see instant results than see an imaginary number sitting on a webpage that will eventually be real (if you request on time), and disappears for 2 weeks while it “processes”. Like Iowa PC says, it’s not exactly money you can count on.

This conversation is pretty much over for me now…

You have a lot to learn. Anyone can “remake” something. Try and calculate your time it would take to do so and compare it to what you would pay for it. Personally, my time is worth $40/hour. Not sure about you….

Do you honestly think your quack chat would be doing as well right now if it didn’t first have the exposure that codecanyon gave it? Highly doubt it.

Either way, good luck and I hope it takes off and makes you rich.
