See this link: http://www.kriesi.at/themes/choices/template-files/features/ it shows a left sidebar menu with icons and when you click on it you go immediately to the content relating the the left sidebar headings. The page does not need to be refreshed. For the life of me I cannot work out how to do this in the CHOICES theme. Can anyone help?

This is done with the “Sidebar Tabs” Shortcode. When writing a post or page click the Magic Wand Icon and then select the Sidebar Tabs menu Item. The editor that will then pop up lets you select icons for each tab:
